Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics BV (AMT) is a gene therapy company targeting inherited metabolic disorders, ocular diseases and neurotherapies. Its strong scientific know-how and expertise has enabled AMT to build up a strong research and clinical development program filling an unmet medical need for therapy of severe (orphan) diseases. Its lead product, AMT-011, is being developed as for treatment of various types of lipoprotein lipase deficiency. AMT is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

In 2006, Gilde participated in the first financing round. Since the investment AMT has advanced its clinical programs, strengthened its team, optimized its production technology and strengthened its intellectual property position. Gilde has been in contact with AMT since its inception in 1998 and has been monitoring its progress from a distance. Based on the significant progress of its lead product and technology platform and strong confidence in the new management team, Gilde decided to become an active investor in supporting its goal to become the global gene therapy company.

Ronald HW Lorijn, CEO AMT

“Attracting the right VC group to invest into a gene therapy start-up company is more than just finding a financial sponsor. From the start Gilde has demonstrated and continues to be a real partner for AMT. While demonstrating their confidence in AMT’s management and corporate strategy Gilde Healthcare Partners using their know-how and extensive network contributes significantly to the growth of our company.”
